November 1989, U.S. Air Force Staff Sergeant William Standard is involved in accident near RAF Woodbridge. He awakens in a hospital room and finds himself under "protective custody." What he is told about the accident are not at all what he remembers.

As the days pass, he encounters two gorgeous women and birds from what he thought were dreams, and begins to notice changes in himself that he cannot explain. The women, lead him into a world full of magic and danger. It is in this mythological world that Will must learn to control what he is becoming, understand the love he feels for the beautiful and dangerous Morgan, and how to fight a powerful being with centuries of experience. He must do this while keeping the changes in him secret from the Air Force and his friends safe.

This is a newly edited version of the same story.

The Raven's Standard eBook James E. Fleeger Reviews

Likeable characters, good action sequences, and a story that doesn't get bogged down. The first book I have read in a long time that I had trouble putting down.
I really enjoyed reading this book..
The combining of old world lore & beliefs brought an incredible realism to the whole story.
I hope that there is a sequel.
This is the second book I have read by this author, and the second review I have written. The storytelling and plot line are both riveting, they compell you to read on and on, and when you finish, they make you want more. Alas, this book ends in such a way I doubt there will be a sequel, fortunately he has written two other books, and if the stories are half as good as this one, they are sure to be worthwhile! Still cannot belive his books are all only $0.99!
Will Standard, our protagonist, is a sergeant in the US Air Force, stationed in England. Morgan, his love, is of another race entirely - she has already lived for thousands of years, many of which have been extraordinarily bitter - and she still has some fighting to do. Will is changed (literally) by his first encounter with Morgan, and is further changed when he meets her sisters. He also learns of the age-old conflict between humans and Morgan's people as well as of the split between factions of Morgan's race. Then he is forced to get involved! Creepy! Bloody! Exciting!
I enjoyed Will's metamorphosis. I also liked his military buddies. I got a real kick out of the author's game with language - the monosyllables of Will's pal Tommy, the Dickensian vocabulary of Morgan and her friends, the contemporary but intelligent vocabulary of Will's commanding officer, Colonel Glenda Jenkins, and Will's changing choice of words, albeit the latter was a bit flip-floppy.
Will and Morgan perform superhuman deeds in this tale of intrigue that I thoroughly enjoyed.
What I did not enjoy was the spelling! The spell-checker does not know the difference between there and their, but I do! I also know the difference between your and you're. Sadly, the book is chock-full of this type of mistake. So full, that I subtracted a star! Nonetheless, it was a fun read!
